For Child Care Providers
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE
Children with Behavioral Issues
The second area of technical assistance involves consultation regarding developmentally appropriate behavioral issues. Any provider in the state of Maryland that is experiencing behavioral difficulties with children in their program may contact their local CCR&R and receive consultation on dealing with these situations. Consultations are not limited to assisting providers on dealing with specific behaviors or patterns of behavior. Consultations may also extend to providing assistance with program layout, classroom management guidance, dealing with parents of difficult children, redirecting instructors, etc.
The Early Childhood Mental Health Program (ECMH) has a direct relationship with technical assistance. This program involves a collaborative relationship between a professional consultant with mental health experience and one or more individuals with other areas of expertise. More severe behavioral issues are handled by ECMH. The technical assistance staff at the CCR&Rs are able to make these determinations and provide services accordingly.
