Revised Maryland Model for School Readiness
Revised Module Training Stipend

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the Purpose of the Stipend?

The intent of the stipend is to offset the cost of training so that the participants do not have to pay the full cost of training.

2. To whom are Stipends given?

  • Stipends are given to the organization or trainer sponsoring the training.
  • Any training on Revised MMSR Modules since 6/26/07 is eligible for a stipend.
  • No stipends are available for modules completed prior to 6/26/07.
  • Trainers already in Year 2 of Revised MMSR Training (modules 6-9) are eligible for a stipend for modules that began after 6/26/07.

3. How much can a trainer expect for a stipend?

A trainer can receive up to $1200 per module, given 20 participants.

4. What if I am already receiving funding from another source?

If you are receiving funding from another source (including a Judy Center) for MMSR training, we need to discuss eligibility for a stipend. Please contact Barbara Andrews.

You can sponsor training with another group (see previous statement about other funding sources).

5. Who may conduct these MMSR trainings?

If you are new to MMSR Training, you will need to complete:

  • The full 9 module MMSR, The Responsive Training Symposium 3 Day TOT and all other requirements of OCC to be an approved trainer.

If you are currently an approved MMSR trainer, but have not been briefed on the revised MMSR modules, you will need to complete:

  • MCC’s one day MMSR Training of Trainers
  • All renewal requirements of OCC to be an approved trainer.

6. Can I apply for a stipend in advance of my training?

You may apply for a stipend in advance of completing training; however, we need a fully completed “Stipend Request” form, including the training schedule and names of trainers.

7. Are there a specific number of participants that have to attend to be eligible for the stipend?

You may apply for a stipend for trainings with fewer than 20 participants; however, the stipend will be adjusted according to the number of participants. The Stipend requires a minimum of 10 participants.

8. What if training attendance is less than the number of participants who registered?

If the training is planned for 20 participants, but fewer than 20 complete the return training a re-payment of a portion of the stipend amount will be required.
The stipend is for $1200 per module (given 20 participants) and is available prior to the start of training to offset trainer costs.

9. What would be the cost of training for participants?

Maryland Committee for Children expects that trainers receiving a stipend will charge at least a nominal fee to participants to cover the costs of food and space rental fees for training sessions.

10. What do I need to provide to MCC after each module?

You will need to send a copy of the sign-in-sheet and copies of the evaluations to Barbara Andrews.

Stipend Request Form for Revised MMSR

PLEASE NOTE:

Maryland Committee for Children needs to receive fully completed stipend request forms from those requesting stipends.

Even if you are not applying for a stipend, please be sure that Barbara Andrews has your schedule of any Revised MMSR Training being offered. It is now possible for participants who miss a module to make it up in a different training series. We are developing a database for the grant here at MCC and need to collect information on all training on the Revised MMSR. Thank you.

Please contact Barbara Andrews with any further questions.
